Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of sister cities in Canada, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Fengcheng (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hey Z, I wanted to let you know that I finally got around to responding to your feedback of your Joan Ganz Cooney review. Thanks for doing it, and my apologies for it taking so bloody long. BTW, I don't think it was a COI at all; the article as it currently stands is substantially different than before I got my hands on it. Thanks for the feedback, and let me know how I assist moving forward. Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 00:51, 3 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello! Just letting you know that I've reviewed your GA nomination for 2011 royal tour of Canada. At this time, I don't think it's ready, since there are still a lot of issues identified during the peer review that need to be resolved. I encourage you to resolve those first, then renominate it for GA status. Edge3 (talk) 20:54, 9 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hey Zan, I was puttering about GAC and saw that your nominated Snuffy's Parents Get a Divorce. I was tempted to review it, but I suspect that even though you've taken it over, I wouldn't be objective. After it passes, I'll take a look at it and do an informal review if you like. There are two issues I think I can address now, though. You have a note at the bottom of the article that states that it was based upon the article at Muppet Wiki. I haven't compared the Wiki article with the one here at WP, but I would strongly advise against doing that. I mean, you can start at the Wiki, but the article here should be substantially different, so that you're not accused of plagiarism. I've only done a cursory review of the sources, but they look good, so it may not be a huge issue. I also think that to be comprehensive, you should expand the info about the recent divorce episode with Abby Cadabby. (Hmm, come to think of it, there should be an article about that episode, too, even if it's a stub.) Hope this helps.
Hi Christine... thanks for the comments on the episode description, I'll try and go through that sometime this week. I'll try and get to Sesame Street media soon, it seems relatively straight forward. I've finally deleted my review page for Influence, so the GAN will reset to unclaimed. There were a few things here and there that could be changed, but the prose and referencing was strong overall. That said, I found lots of things that the show has been influential with, and you talk about (multiculturalism, research based programming), you don't necessarily link back to how it influenced children's media. The critical reception section would make a strong Critical reception of Sesame Street article, but without linking things back to the title/topic, I couldn't pass it. Better off to try and see if someone else would. But anyway, I'll get around to "media" in a bit. -- Zanimum (talk) 22:10, 13 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Ack, sorry, you pinned the nail on the head, I did forget. Some of the other reviews have been taking longer than I thought to resolve, and that mixed with work, I bit off more than I could chew. I'm starting now. -- Zanimum (talk) 21:59, 13 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hey Zan, would you do a big huge favor for me? One of my projects, other than Sesame Street articles, is working on articles about Maya Angelou. As a matter of fact, the creation of a FT for her and her works is a long-standing, many-years-long WP goal for me. So you mind going here [1] and taking a look? This FLC, for List of honors received by Maya Angelou, is one of the last steps in that long process. I'd greatly appreciate it.
Also, the Sesame Street media article is still in need of your attention. Hey, if you're not gonna get to it anytime soon, could you withdraw your review offer, so that someone else can review it? Again, thanks so much. Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 19:29, 3 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Good day Zanimum,
During the month of April, Wikimedia Canada is preparing the National Contribution Month, and we are looking for experienced contributors to organize a contribution day (or half-day) in their region.

This meetings generally take place in library where references are easy of access, but can be organized in any communal room. Beside improving articles, a goal of this participatory workshops is to initiate neophyte in the cooperative contribution of Wikipedia.
If you are interested in organizing or participating in a contribution day in your region, communicate witht he national team on the project's talk page. The exact agenda of each local event is left to the discretion of the organizer. Help is available for the organization from contributors who already organized these type of days, so don't be worried. If you have any questions or want more information, don't hesitate to contact us.

Ah, I live to make obscure references to children's TV and music. When I respond to fellow editors to refer them to my talk page, I use "Here's the mail!" which is, of course, a reference to Blue's Clues. Just now, as I was writing this, a knock came at the door and it was a saleswoman. I swear, every time that happens, I want to run around the room yelling, "Salesman! Salesman!" like in Pee-wee's Playhouse. The title of this section is, of course, a reference to The Wiggles, as a reminder about your GA review of The Wiggles Pty Ltd. Have a nice day! ;) Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 00:27, 9 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

If there's any consequences to his putting magnets on cars, that would be encyclopedic. If anything, it could be a ticket. Under the circumstances, and given that a similar situation occurred with Talk:The Wiggles Pty Ltd/GA1 a couple of months ago (see entry earlier on this talk page), if nothing has been done on the review by the end of the weekend, it can be considered abandoned. It's a shame, but it's unfair to the nominator to start a review and never come back to it and fail to reply to queries as to whether the review will be resumed. (I'll be posting a similar note on the review page.) BlueMoonset (talk) 14:00, 30 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

I heard that on Muppet Wikia, there is an unusual name of the Sesame Street song broadcasted in early 1996. It's not "Happy and Proud", it's "Birthday Emotions". Check it on here.
One more thing, in "Birthday Emotions, someone is hugging a teddy bear, brown with a red bow. Dcelano 00:35, (UTC)

Hello! Now, some of you might have already received a similar message a little while ago regarding the Recruitment Centre, so if you have, there is no need to read the rest of this. This message is directed to users who have reviewed over 15 Good article nominations and are not part of WikiProject Good articles (the first message I sent out went to only WikiProject members).
So for those who haven't heard about the Recruitment Centre yet, you may be wondering why there is a Good article icon with a bunch of stars around it (to the right). The answer? WikiProject Good articles will be launching a Recruitment Centre very soon! The centre will allow all users to be taught how to review Good article nominations by experts just like you! However, in order for the Recruitment Centre to open in the first place, we need some volunteers:
Recruiters: The main task of a recruiter is to teach users that have never reviewed a Good article nomination how to review one. To become a recruiter, all you have to do is meet this criteria. If we don't get at least 5-10 recruiters to start off with (at the time this message was sent out, 2 recruiters have volunteered), the Recruitment Centre will not open. If interested, make sure you meet the criteria, read the process and add your name to the list of recruiters. (One of the great things about being a recruiter is that there is no set requirement of what must be taught and when. Instead, all the content found in the process section is a guideline of the main points that should be addressed during a recruitment session...you can also take an entire different approach if you wish!) If you think you will not have the time to recruit any users at this time but are still interested in becoming a recruiter, you can still add your name to the list of recruiters but just fill in the "Status" parameter with "Not Available".
Co-Director: The current Director for the centre is me (Dom497). Another user that would be willing to help with some of the tasks would be helpful. Tasks include making sure recruiters are doing what they should be (teaching!), making sure all recruitments are archived correctly, updating pages as needed, answering any questions, and distributing the feedback form. If interested, please contact me (Dom497).
Nominators, please read this: If you are not interested in becoming a recruiter, you can still help. In some cases a nominator may have an issue with an "inexperienced" editor (the recruitee) reviewing one of their nominations. To minimize the chances of this happening, if you are fine with a recruitee reviewing one of your nominations under the supervision of the recruiter, please add your name to the list at the bottom of this page. By adding your name to this list, chances are that your nomination will be reviewed more quickly as the recruitee will be asked to choose a nomination from the list of nominators that are OK with them reviewing the article.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to seeing this program bring new reviewers to the Good article community and all the positive things it will bring along.
A message will be sent out to all recruiters regarding the date when the Recruitment Centre will open when it is determined. The message will also contain some further details to clarify things that may be a bit confusing.--Dom497 (talk)

We have changed the number of suggested articles and which categories they are selected from. The number of stubs has been greatly reduced, the number of articles needing sources doubled, and two new categories added (orphans and unencyclopaedic articles). We have also modified the layout of the suggestions and added sortable columns with various types of information about each article. The first two columns are:
Views/Day
Daily average number of views an article's had over the past 14 days.
Quality
Predicted article quality on a 1- to 3-star scale. Placing your cursor over the stars should give you a pop-up describing the article's quality (Low/Medium/High), current assessment class, and predicted assessment class.
The method we use to predict article quality also allows us to assess whether an article might need specific types of work in order to improve its quality. The work needed might not correspond to cleanup tags added to the article, since our method is not based on those. We have added five columns reflecting this work assessment, where a red X indicates improvement is needed. Placing your cursor over an X should give you a pop-up with a short description of the work needed. The five columns seek to answer the following five questions:
Content
Is more content needed?
Headings
Does this article have an appropriate section structure?
Images
Is the number of illustrative images about right?
Links
Does this article link to enough other Wikipedia articles?
Sources
For its length, is there an appropriate number of citations to sources in this article?

Hi Zanimum. As part of the GA review, I looked at the sources that you used for this article, and I'm concerned that David Bednar might not meet our notability requirements. I'm going to file an AfD to see what the community consensus is. Unfortunately, this means that I will fail the GA nomination at this time. However, I recognize that you've waited so long for this review, and that you've made a significant contribution to the article, so I would be happy to review the second GA nomination if the AfD is closed as "keep". Regards, Edge3 (talk) 22:34, 3 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/David Bednar until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

I turned it back to an article after I found an article from the Wisconsin Historical Society about the Barbie doll and being from fictional community of Willows, Wisconsin. Hi, Zanimum. As you may have noticed, there was no consensus on the AfD for David Bednar. I concede that the argument for deletion wasn't very strong, so if you renominate the article for GA status, I would be willing to complete the review. However, I won't be able to review it until early December, due to the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday in the US. Regards, Edge3 (talk) 00:57, 25 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi Zanimum ! I just wanted to thank you for taking up the review of "Can't Get You Out of My Head" (and passing it!). The nomination had been lying around for too long, but thankfully you took it up and what a clean and great review you had conducted seeing that the article is very large. It is Kylie's signature song and one of my personal favourites and I'm very happy and grateful that it is a GA now! Thank you so much! :) --WonderBoy1998 (talk) 16:52, 29 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Not to press you, but are you going to be able to resume work on the Mirvish Gallery article soon? Your contribution history doesn't show a lot of recent activity, which I hope means that you were having a busy and enjoyable holiday with little time to spare for matters Wikipedial. Now that we're slogging into 2014, though, I'd like to see some progress on this article: I'm reluctant to take on another GAR or embark on any other kind of major WP project while this is hanging fire. Thank you for uploading File:Shallowhalmovieposter.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.
If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Hi, Zanimum. First, thank you again for the reviews and help! Second, yeah, it's very close, and I'll try to get other episodes to GA. Mr. Monk and the End is the most easy to do due to the extensive coverage it gained. However, I think I'll have to strive to get the other to GA status. My dad runs a non-profit art group, and as a result, a gallery space. Before the Vancouver Paralympics, I got in contact with the CPC, and they endorsed a display of Paralympic sport themed art our adult and youth members were planning. So then back before the London Games, I was searching the CPC website whether any of the Canadian athletes did art as a hobby. There was one man who drew cartoon art, and Summer, who collaborated with her sister on that kids' book. We never did contact her (incidentally, her drawing ability has grown leaps and bounds since the book, if her Twitter feed is any indication,) but I decided to create an article on her on Wikipedia. It was a fortunate random pick too, considering how well she did in London.
That's totally cool that you're such good friends, what are the odds? Very cool!
If she ever wants to have input into the article, let me know. I managed to connect with her parents around the time of the 2012 Paralympics, and they were able to point out a few errors in the article, things that articles claimed or implied that weren't actually the case. -- Zanimum (talk) 12:37, 10 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Just to let you know that I'm closing the nomination as unsuccessful. It's been open for over three months, which is far too long. For putting up with me and Red in the Red Skelton GA review.:) I started working with the article some time ago and needed to stop because everywhere I was trying to add refs, it came up copyvio. :( The issue turned out to be foundational and went back some years. There wasn't much left to it after that had to go, so I started trying to get it back to B article status. Coming back to it recently, we found that both his official website and another online source had copied our content and labeled it with their own copyrights. :/
You mentioned that you'd like to see someone write an article about the bomber Skelton collected money to pay for via his radio show. I found some news stories about the meeting of Skelton and the pilot (this man was the third and last one) which go into a bit of history about the action the bomber saw. I'll post the news story links to the article's talk page in case it might get someone interested in making a start at an article about the plane. Thanks again for your help! @Gabriel Yuji: Good to hear from you! I'm 99% sure that I got the information from Google Books' snippet view search. It's page 224, which seems to be showing up for me. (Until now, I totally didn't connect your Ganga Bruta article with the Monk articles.) -- Zanimum (talk) 01:11, 16 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
I was hoping you had the book but the page already helps me a lot. (Haha why not? Prepare to see even more unconnected articles written by me). Cheers, Gabriel Yuji (talk) 01:47, 16 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
I can see from your contributions log that you've been editing today. If you're too busy at the moment, please tell me. If you'd rather not finish the review, although I would be very glad if you did finish it, I'll renominate it for another reviewer.
@Ɱ: Hi... sorry for pausing mid-review, I will get back to it in the near future. Keep in mind that there are articles in the same GAN category waiting without a reviewer since January, so a paused review is mild in comparison. -- Zanimum (talk) 21:55, 23 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
I know, I just figured that a GAN without a reviewer is better than a GAN with a reviewer who abandoned it. Thanks for the reply, I'll look forward to working with you.--ɱ(talk)23:01, 23 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi Zan, hope all is well with you and that you're enjoying your summer. I appreciate your GA review of the Kuwaiti co-production; am working on it now. After it's done, would you mind looking at my recent FAC, which happens to yet another Sesame Street article? [3] I must say, it's a very cool article about an aspect of The Show not many people are aware of, so I'm sure you'll enjoy. Thanks as always. Thank you for the feedback. She does seem to have been an interesting person. I had no plans to nominate for GA, but if it were nominated would try to respond to any queries. I think it is reasonably accurate as far as it goes but there are large gaps, e.g. nothing about her parents. Aymatth2 (talk) 20:03, 26 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hey Zanimum! Hope all is well. Late last month, you offered to review David Hudson (pioneer) for GA status. Absolutely no rush or anything (I can tell you're busy), but just wanted to shoot a ping and ask if you're still planning on reviewing it? Miniapolis also did a nice job copyediting it over the last few days. Thanks! ~SuperHamsterTalkContribs18:11, 15 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi Zan,
Would you mind reviewing another Sesame Street co-production for GAC, Plaza Sesamo? I unfortunately wasn't able to find as many sources as Iftah Ya Simsim, which you reviewed for GA, but I still think it's a charming little article. I'd really appreciate it; I'd really like to make the finals for the Wikicup this year, so your review would help me fulfill that personal goal. Thanks so much. Welcome to the GA Cup! In less than 72 hours, the competition will begin! Before you all start reviewing nominations we want to make sure you understand the following:
This is a friendly competition so we don't want any cheating/breaking of the rules. However, if you do believe someone is going against the rules, notify the judges. All the rules are listed here.
If you are a new editor or new to reviewing Good article nominations, it is imperative that you read the 4 essays/guides listed under FAQ #4. If you do not understand something, ask a judge for clarification ASAP!
The competition is not entirely about who can review the most nominations. Per the "Scoring" page, there is different criteria in which you can earn more points. Theoretically, you could review 10 nominations and have 80 points but another user could have reviewed 5 nominations and have 100 points. Yes, we want you to review as many nominations as you can as this will greatly increase the number of points you earn, but you must also keep in mind that every single review will be looked over by a judge. If we find that you are "rubber-stamping" (in other words, the review is not complete but you still passed/failed the article) you may be disqualified without warning.
Also, rather than creating a long list on what to remember, make sure you have read the "Scoring", "Submissions", and "FAQ" pages.
Now for the one question that we guarantee you have: how on earth will the rounds work???
Yes, we never actually had a solid platform regarding how the rounds would work because we had no idea how many people would sign-up. Even though the competition is about to begin, because sign-ups are still open, it is impossible to say exactly how each round will work. As of now, we can confirm that Round 1 will have everyone compete in one big pool. Depending on the final number of participants after sign-ups close, a to-be-determined number of participants will move on (highest scorers will move on) to Round 2. We guarantee that the top 15 will move on, so make sure you aim for those top positions! Moving on to Round 2, participants will be split into pools of even numbers (for example, every pool will have 6 participants). The pools will be determined by a computer program that places participants by random. More details regarding Round 2 will be sent out at the end of Round 1.
It is important to note that the GA Cup will run on UTC time, so make sure you know what time that is for where you live! On that note, the GA Cup will start on October 1 at 0:00:01 UTC; Round 1 will end on October 29 at 23:59:59 UTC; Round 2 will commence on November 1 at 0:00:01 UTC. All reviews must be started after or on the start time of the round. If you qualify for Round 2 but do not complete a review before the end of Round 1, the review can be carried over to Round 2; however that review will not count for Round 1. Prior to the start of the the second round, participants who qualify to move on will be notified.
Finally, if you know anyone else that might be interesting in participating, let them know! Sign-ups close on October 15 so there is still plenty of time to join in on the action!
If you have any further questions, contact one of the judges or leave a message here.
On October 16 or 17, 2014, check the Pools page as we will post the exact number of participants that will move on to the next round. Because this number will be determined past the halfway mark of Round 1, we encourage you to aim to be in the top 15 as the top 15 at the end of the round are guaranteed to move on.

The new version of MediaWiki (1.25wmf1) is on test wikis and MediaWiki.org since September 25. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis on September 30, and on all Wikipedias on October 2 (calendar).
Errors from Scribunto (Lua) are now shown on the page. Before, you had to click on "Script error" to see them. [61][62]
You can add an "autovalue" for a field in TemplateData. When users add the template to a page, the value will be added automatically. An example is when a clean-up template shows the date it was added. [63]
If you change a user preference but don't save it, it now asks if you want to save it. [64][65]
The PDF export tool has changed. The new one has better language support but it doesn't offer ZIM and EPUB formats. [66]
JavaScript authors: Many old methods will be removed soon. Please check your scripts and gadgets and replace the old methods by the new ones if needed. [67]

Hello, I noticed that you are a major user in good article nominee reviewing, taking part in the GA Cup, and suggest you to review the Tim Frazier article. I have put a lot of effort into writing nearly the whole article, and would like to see what changes it may need in order to achieve good article status. Temple of the Mousy (talk) 15:18, 4 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
As we move into the middle of Round 1, we wanted to report some of the lessons we've learned thus far, as well as announce a major rule change going into Round 2, which begins November 1. Remember, sign-ups for this year's Cup ends on September 15.
Thus far, we're very happy with the results of the competition. One of our major goals, reducing the long backlog at GAN, is well on the way to being accomplished, mostly due to the enthusiastic efforts of Jonas Vinther, who has earned over 250 points. Over 80 reviews have been made thus far. Thank you all for your efforts and for your part in making the GA Cup a success.
However, this is the inaugural year of the GA Cup, so there have been some unforeseen circumstances that have come up. One has been a glaring inadequacy with the rules, which the judges feel makes the competition unfair. As a result, there will be a major change in the rules, starting at the beginning of Round 2:
Your review must provide feedback/suggestions for improvement, and then you must wait until the nominator has responded and all issues/suggestions have been resolved before you can pass the article. Failure to follow this rule will result in disqualification.
What this means is that you must provide some feedback to the article's nominator, and must wait for him or her to respond before passing the article. If the nominator has not responded in the standard 7 days, you can fail the article. We're instituting this rule change to prevent the possibility of competitors passing articles for the sake of passing articles (or failing them) and to gain more points. We believe that the change will make it more fair to all competitors in the GA Cup.
Also, in case you haven't noticed, we increased the "guarantee" for Round 2 to 25 participants. The exact number will be decided in the near future.
We thank your for your participation, and for your flexibility and understanding as we learn what works and what doesn't work in this competition.

Hi, and thanks for the recent reviews of my GANs. Legobot had a bit of a coughing fit over the Uncanny Tales GA; see here. As a result your GA review count is now very impressive. I don't know if you can just reset this manually or would have to poke the bot operator, but I thought I should let you know. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 00:23, 14 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
Haha. I was just going to leave this same note. We should just leave it until Zanium has more GA reviews than there are GAs. :P Protonk (talk) 16:11, 14 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
Oh boy! Since the glitch happened after the GA Cup started, do they count for that? I saw the talk page bot error discussion your referenced, but I'm not sure what to revert the number to, so maybe I'll just strike it out for now. -- Zanimum (talk) 20:57, 14 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
Next week's newsletter: "Zanimum is in the lead with PHP_INT_MAX points!" Also if legobot is just incrementing a number striking it or turning it into something that won't cast to an integer will probably cause it to flub again. Ahhhh...bots. Protonk (talk) 22:46, 14 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
The judges have learned a great deal in this first part of the competition, and we appreciate your patience with us as we've figured out what works and what doesn't work. As we reported in our last newsletter, an inadequacy in the scoring system has been illuminated in the past 15 days, which has resulted in a major change in the rules. It has also resulted in one withdrawal.
To ensure fairness, we've decided to further increase the number of participants moving onto Round 2. Everyone who has reviewed at least one article will automatically be moved forward, and will be placed in pools. You have until October 29 to take advantage of this opportunity. It is our hope that this will make up for the unforeseen glitch in our scoring system.
Best of wishes to all of you as you continue to help improve articles and make Wikipedia a better place.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Peel Region municipal elections, 2014, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page John McKay. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hello. I see you posted the Canadian shooting at ITN. Traditionally, moving something to the main page includes closing its nomination at WP:ITNC and resetting the timer. You also replaced the image without shifting "(pictured)" to the correct item. More importantly, you didn't upload a local copy of the image, as stressed in the yellow banner with a red "ATTENTION" heading and blinking "stop" symbol. (And for some reason, you mislabeled the edit "minor" and included no summary, thereby reducing the likelihood of another administrator noticing the errors immediately.)
Fortunately, KrinkleBot cascade-protected the image at Commons approximately four minutes later. This sometimes takes hours to occur, even when the bot is operational. (There have been several outages – including one earlier this month, during which a vandal replaced a photograph appearing on the main page with this(warning: NSFW pornography).
To be clear, I'm sure that you had only good intentions. Also, I realize that you're Canadian (and I don't mean to be insensitive or uncaring). But I respectfully request that you not edit a main page section without first familiarizing yourself with its established process. Thank you. —David Levy18:05, 23 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
@David Levy: Point taken. I was just trying to be bold and get something up there. I apologize for not following procedure–I'm frankly unsure I've edited the template since 2006–but it was mostly an attempt to end the conversation, given that consensus seemed stably favourable, yet no one was taking action. -- Zanimum (talk) 18:39, 23 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

I saw you're an experienced GA reviewer and I was wondering if you'd be kind enough to review Kajaani (a Finnish municipality) for me. I have had one GA in the past (Mikkeli, another Finnish municipality). If you don't want to or don't have time to that's fine. :) Regards, --AmaryllisGardenertalk18:47, 24 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
@AmaryllisGardener: Thanks for the offer, but I don't think I'd end up passing it. You'd be better off waiting and seeing whether someone else would be more apt. The history and economy sections are strong, but you need more meat on much of the article. The river allows fishing, but is there any source talking about how it interacts with the human population? Did the town grow around the river initially, before expanding to its modern borders? Are the roads a linear grid, or at various angles from the different eras of growth? The theatre: does it host outside acts, or are there local bands or theatre troupes? Or a mix of both? Are the recreation facilities municipally owned/managed, or private? What about the Hokki Kajaani, or any other intracity leagues that have teams in town? It's a foundation for an article, but not ready just yet. -- Zanimum (talk) 21:29, 25 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Wilhelmina Will has given you some caramel and a candy apple! Caramel and candy-coated apples are fun Halloween treats, and promote WikiLove on Halloween. Hopefully these have made your Halloween (and the proceeding days) much sweeter. Happy Halloween!
'"On Psych, A USA Network TV series Episode 8, The Tao of Gus, Season 6, Shawn refers to pumpkins as "Halloween Apples" because he thinks all round fruits are a type of apple.
Wednesday saw the end of Round 1. Jaguar took out Round 1 with an amazing score of 238. In a tight race for second, Peacemaker67 and Ritchie333 finished second and third with 152 and 141 points, respectively.
Two users have scored the maximum five bonus points for article length (60,000 characters+). Anotherclown reviewed Spanish conquest of Yucatán (77,350 characters) and MrWooHoo reviewed Communist Party of China (76,740 characters). The longest review was by Bilorv who reviewedCaldas da Rainha. The review was approximately 22,400 characters which earned s/he two bonus points (20, 000 - 29, 999 characters).
In Round 1, 117 reviews were completed, making the first round of the GA Cup a success! A total of 86 articles were removed from the backlog during the month of October! We hope to see all remaining users fighting it out in Round 2 so we can lower the backlog as much as possible.
To qualify for the second round, one completed review was needed, which 28 users accomplished. Participants have been randomly put into 7 pools of 4; the top 2 in each pool will move onto Round 3. There will also be one wildcard. This means that the participant who comes in 15th place (all pools combined) will also move on. Round 2 will start on November 1 at 0:00:01 UTC and end on November 29 at 23:59:59 UTC. Information about Round 2 and the pools can be found here
Also, remember that a major rule change will go into affect starting on November 1, which marks the beginning of Round Two. Round 1 displayed a weakness in the rules, which we are correcting with this new rule. We believe that this change will make the competition more inherently fair. The new rule is: Your review must provide feedback/suggestions for improvement, and then you must wait until the nominator has responded and all issues/suggestions have been resolved before you can pass the article. Failure to follow this rule will result in disqualification. The judges will strictly enforce this new rule.
To subscribe or unsubscribe to future GA Cup newsletter, please add or remove your name to our mailing list. If you are a participant still competing, you will be on the mailing list no matter what as this is the easiest way to communicate between all participants.

There was a bug in VisualEditor with Internet Explorer. It hid tools like the link editor when you opened them. The bug was fixed on Monday. [86]
Issues with the new search tool caused geo data code to show up on pages on Monday and Friday. The mobile "nearby" tool was also broken. The problem is now fixed. [87][88][89]
HHVM caused server issues on Thursday. They are now fixed.
Software changes this week
The new version of MediaWiki (1.25wmf5) has been on test wikis and MediaWiki.org since October 29. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis from November 4, and on all Wikipedias from November 5 (calendar).
Some wikis have icons at the top of a page to show if it is protected or featured. Icons show up using CSS. You can now use the <indicator> tag in these templates instead to add the icons. [90][91]
VisualEditor now tells you if you're editing a re-used reference. This helps you avoid changing it if you just want to add a new one. [92]
The icons in VisualEditor's template editor tool for adding more fields are back, along with other fixes. [93][94][95][96][97]

Hello Zanimum. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "C. A. Irvine".
The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.
If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Draft:C. A. Irvine}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, click "Save page", and an administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

I saw Talk:Pig Bride/GA1 after I returned and did the fixes, but you missed my ping I guess. I cleaned up the issues and renominated it, but because you had to fail it due to inactivity, I was hoping you could review it again. It only makes sense because you reviewed it originally and sense you are now familiar with the page. I remade the Good Article nomination and you can see it on Talk:Pig Bride. Hope to hear from you soon. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 05:54, 15 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Software changes this week
The new version of MediaWiki (1.25wmf8) has been on test wikis and MediaWiki.org since November 12. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis from November 18, and on all Wikipedias from November 19 (calendar).
The new search tool ("CirrusSearch") will be on the English Wikipedia from November 19. [110]
Move from Bugzilla to Phabricator
The tool to track bugs will change on November 21.
You won't be able to add or edit bugs between November 21 and November 24.
A note to Zanimum that this GAN review, which you started on September 2, will be closed unless you return to finish it (or start to finish it) the next time you edit, or November 22, whichever is earlier. It is grossly unfair to the nominator to have this level of delay, and it's something that has happened time and time again with your GA reviews. (If the nominator insists, we may close it sooner, to get it into the reviewing pool sooner.) You also have the following other GAN reviews awaiting your attention:
Talk:Loving You (1957 film)/GA1 (opened October 1; partial review on October 20; fixes posted the next day not yet replied to)
I'd like to suggest that you delete the Katherine Pulaski nomination, since it's been nearly a month since you opened it. I'll be putting it back into the reviewing pool if you haven't done so by the time the Missisauga is closed. I'd like to suggest that you voluntarily limit yourself to one or maybe two reviews at any one time, since it's clear you cannot handle more in a timely manner. Thank you. BlueMoonset (talk) 20:52, 19 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
While you've done some really good reviews of GAN's, Zanimum, I have to agree with BlueMoonset that you shouldn't review so many at once- especially when not able to keep up with them all. Snuggums (talk / edits)22:05, 19 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
Agree with Blue. You've been told many times to stop taking on a bunch at once when you usually abandon the majority of them. I don't want to start enforcing a restriction on you but clearly we're going to have to. Wizardman04:16, 21 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
Zanimum, I see you've posted here once today. It's been a week since the above, and you've remained inactive except for that post. Of the five reviews listed above, Missisauga was closed at the (discouraged) nominator's request, Charles Aznavour was put back in the to-be-reviewed pool, and Katherine Pulaski was deleted, putting it back in the pool as well. This is to inform you that remaining two will join them in the pool shortly, unless you take action on them. BlueMoonset (talk) 23:12, 26 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Problems
There was a problem when editing tables in VisualEditor. VisualEditor was trying to fix bad values for the colspan or rowspan option. VisualEditor now leaves the bad values to avoid making things worse. This was fixed on November 17. [113]

The new version of MediaWiki (1.25wmf9) has been on test wikis and MediaWiki.org since November 19. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis from November 25, and on all Wikipedias from November 26 (calendar).

VisualEditor now tells you if your edit needs to be approved. [115]
You can now use VisualEditor's tools directly when you resume editing after closing the save window. [116]
VisualEditor's table editing tools now work better in right-to-left languages. [117][118]
