New 840hp AMG GT 63 S v BMW M5 v Panamera Turbo: DRAG RACE

- How’s THIS for a three-way German showdown?!
We’ve got Yianni in the all-new Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S e-hybrid and he’s facing off against Mat in a BMW M5 Competition and Daniel in a Porsche Panamera Turbo S e-hybrid. But which is quickest over the quarter mile? Well, let’s take a closer look.
Starting with the all-new AMG, it’s powered by a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 coupled with an electric motor, which combines to produce 843hp and an incredible 1,400Nm of torque! That hybrid system means it’s pretty heavy though, weighing in at 2,305kg! But it’s not just the weight that’s large, so is the price, with it costing around £174,000!
Even though it’s heavy, it’s not the heaviest here - that honour goes to the Porsche, which tips the scales at 2,350kg! In terms of power, it’s also equipped with a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 coupled with an electric motor to deliver 700hp and 870Nm. It’s a fair bit cheaper than the AMG though, costing around £146,000.
Then finally we have the BMW. Packing a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 under the bonnet, it’s able to put down 625hp and 750Nm of torque. It’s a whole lot lighter than the other contenders, though, coming in at 1,865kg. It’s also the cheapest here, costing around £110,000.
So the BMW has the least power, but will the weight difference prove decisive? There’s only one way to find out… LET’S RACE!

Man, this episode just goes to show that you gotta do several rounds if you wanna see the real deal in a drag race like this! It's all about the drivers and their skills, you feel me? So maybe the solution is to have multiple rounds where they switch up the drivers. That way, we'll get some epic action and a fair shot for everyone involved! As usual fantastic episode

I don't like the design of most newer BMW. But the recent M4 (G82) looks a little better than it's predecessor (F82), which in turn looked a lot better than its predecessor (E92).

Well the AMG does weight A LOT more. Weighs as much if not more than my SUV. I agree with you, M5 is impressive and I would love to see what the M5cs can do against this.
The AMG GT4 E performance has its 840hp and torque only for 10 seconds boost (due to hybrid system) after ten seconds the hybrid system gives half of its power every run
so the car actually after ten seconds is working with 740hp instead of 840 (The hybrid system of the amg gives 150kw =200hp only for 10 seconds and then its continous power is 75kw=100hp)
and yet still the amg is faster for 0-300 km/h run or even at the top speed
(power : weight ratio is advantagous for M5 cs considering amg has 740hp most of the time)
not to forget that BMW always underestimate their factory figures
